Dermaplaning is a very precise method of exfoliation. A medical grade blade skims the surface of the skin, lifting away the dulling build up of dead cells and uncovering the fresher skin underneath. It is painless, it is gentle, and there is no downtime attached to it at all.
The peach fuzz goes with it
The blade also takes the fine peach fuzz away, which leaves the skin remarkably smooth and gives makeup a silky canvas to sit on. That smoothness is there the moment you sit up, which is why this is one of the few treatments that looks like something after a single visit.
Everything you use afterwards works harder
Removing that barrier of dead cells increases the skin’s permeability, so everything you apply afterwards penetrates far better. What you are using at home is reaching skin that can actually take it in, rather than sitting on top of a layer that was on its way off anyway.
Tailored every time, often paired with a peel
I tailor it every session, and I often combine it with a peel. What we do on the day depends on what your skin is asking for, not on a fixed protocol I run through regardless.
Every treatment here is done by me, start to finish. That is what makes it possible to change the approach session by session rather than repeat the same thing.
What the visit is like
There is nothing to organise around this one and nothing to recover from afterwards, which is a good part of its appeal.
During the session
You lie back and I work the blade across the skin at a shallow angle. It is painless and gentle, and most people are surprised by how little there is to it. We go at whatever pace suits you.
Afterwards
There is no downtime, so you can go straight back to your day. The skin is smooth and looks fresh immediately, makeup sits beautifully on it, and whatever you put on afterwards is absorbing better than usual.
As part of a facial
Dermaplaning is the base of both the Clean the Slate and Derma-glow facials, and it can be added to most other treatments. If a longer appointment appeals more, say so and we will build it into one.
