IPL photofacials, in Kamloops.
Sun damage, pigment, redness and uneven tone, worked on with the Nubody laser. It evens the colour out and firms the skin at the same time, over a series.
It works on colour, under the surface
I use the Nubody laser, the SR side of my DermaLase system, to target hyperpigmentation, sun damage, uneven tone, laxity and discolouration. Multiple wavelengths let it reach areas of pigment without damaging the surface of the skin, which is what separates it from anything that works by taking a layer off.
What happens to the pigment
The pigment absorbs the light, coagulates, and begins to break down. Deeper wavelengths stimulate collagen and elastin at the same time, so the skin tightens as the tone evens out. Two things are happening in the same session, which is why it suits skin that has both colour and slackness to address.
What it addresses
Hyperpigmentation, sun damage, uneven tone, laxity and discolouration, and alongside those it addresses freckles, sunspots and rosacea.
Why it takes a series
Most people should plan on five treatments at three to five week intervals. Each session takes roughly sixty to seventy five minutes depending on how much area we are covering, and the whole body can be treated, not just the face.
The system lives in the treatment room, so photofacials and hair removal happen in the same quiet space, with the same person operating it every time.
Before, during and after
There is a little to organise around this one, mostly to do with sun and medication. The notes below are the ones that matter.
Before your appointment
Avoid tanning and sun exposure for two to four weeks beforehand. Tell me if you are on Accutane or have been in the last six months, or if you are undergoing gold therapy.
During the session
Roughly sixty to seventy five minutes, depending on how much area we are covering. It is not limited to the face either, the whole body can be treated, and we can work through more than one area in the same appointment.
Afterwards
Skin feels warm and sometimes tingly, and you may be quite red. I finish with a tinted sunscreen so you never have to leave looking like you have had a treatment. Use a high SPF afterwards, and skip strenuous workouts, very hot showers, hot yoga and saunas for two days.
-
I have had her IPL treatments, and laser hair removal, with great results even after only one treatment. It just keeps getting better, my sun damage is almost gone. I will be booking a few more.

Find out what it can do for your skin
What lifts quickly and what needs more patience depends on your skin and how much sun it has had, and the honest answer comes from looking at it in person. If this is your first facial treatment with me, the consultation is included in the appointment. Tell me how to reach you and what is bothering you, and we will go from there.
- A proper look at your skin, in person
- An honest plan, in the order that makes sense
- You decide what, if anything, comes next
