How it works

The repair is the treatment

Microneedling is a non surgical treatment that uses very fine, sterile needles to create micro punctures in the skin. Those punctures trigger collagen and elastin production deep down and set off your own healing and rebuilding response, so the improvement is something your skin makes rather than something laid on top of it.

What it treats

Fine lines, scarring, uneven tone and texture, pigmentation and dull skin. Over a series it re densifies the skin, tightens the look of enlarged pores, remodels scar tissue, and improves elasticity and the flow of nutrients through the skin layers.

Why collagen needs prompting

Collagen is depleted over time by age, inflammation, sun exposure, smoking, stress, pollution and poor diet. Microneedling does not lay any of it back on the surface, it asks your skin to make its own again.

How many sessions

That depends on what we are treating and how your skin responds. I would rather look at your skin and plan the series with you than put a number on it before I have seen it, so we settle that at the consultation.

The treatment room with a draped treatment bed, sheepskin rug and antique wooden armoire

One room, one person, by appointment only. The numbing needs time to work properly, and nothing else in the day is pushing against it.

The appointment

Before, during and after

Most of what matters with this one happens in the hours afterwards, and it comes down to leaving your skin alone while it does the work.

Before we start

Numbing is applied first so you are comfortable, then the area is cleaned and prepped to remove any anesthetic residue before we begin.

During the session

Very fine, sterile needles pass over the area to create the micro punctures that set the rebuilding response going. We work through it at whatever pace suits you.

Afterwards

Mild redness that settles within a few hours. Do not wash your face for eight hours, and keep applying the hyaluronic acid in that window. Avoid heat, saunas, hot baths and hot yoga for a day or two.

Find out if it is the right place to start

Sometimes microneedling is exactly the right first step, and sometimes something gentler comes first and this follows it. That call is easier to make with your skin in front of me. Tell me how to reach you and what you would like to change, and we will go from there.

  • A proper look at your skin, in person
  • An honest plan, in the order that makes sense
  • You decide what, if anything, comes next
